Joshua Ansale - Aghoy

from Tunog Lata by MusiKolektibo

about

“Ghosts. Something that we don’t see, yet can feel.
Throughout our cultural history, we’ve always been
fascinated by tales of ghosts and spirits. Truly, our
ancestors possess a spring of imagination that never
ceases. But why do we have to settle with imagination
alone, when we can make ghosts for ourselves?”

This piece uses bits of recorded sound from the voice of
the composer himself, his grand piano, a lecture by Alan
Watts, and a surreptitiously recorded shouting match
between drunken neighbors in a nearby shantytown in
San Mateo, Rizal; together with a KORG MS-20 analog
synthesizer.
