A fugue for 4 voices originally published for organ around
1875 or 1876. My instrumentation allows for timbral call
and response phrases within one of the fugal voices while
not losing track of the other voices, which also do their
own timbral call and response phrases.

In the larger context of the arrangement, these time
regions of hocketing act as calls or answers to regions
where the foreground fugal voices have more consistent
timbres in longer periods.
